The Casa Amendoeira is an elaborately renovated townhouse within the historic city walls of Lagos and just a few minutes walk from all amenities and beaches.
The Casa has been lovingly restored, furnished and equipped to offer our guests a beautiful and comfortable holiday home from home. Warm colours, paintings by local artists, a soft touch of Moroccan furniture and lamps welcome the visitor upon arrival. The two bedrooms (double and twin) are quiet and comfortable and have very comfortable beds. The kitchen is very well equipped with a dishwasher, practical kitchen utensils and tools.
On the upper floor of this holiday home in Lagos there is a bright and spacious living room with dining area, with a cosy wood-burning stove (for the winter months!) from where an outside staircase leads from the balcony to our beautiful roof terrace with 360° views, perfect for relaxing and dining outdoors. Perfect for sunbathing almost all year round, as Lagos is blessed on average with over 300 days of brilliant blue sky per year.
And no, we don’t have a pool – we have the beach so close that you can easily walk there and enjoy the best pool nature provides. Praia da Batata and Meia Praia are our favorite places to go.
The electricity of Casa Amendoeira is mostly generated with a solar panel on the roof, which is able to produce 1700KWh/year. Furthermore, the house is equipped with an A++ washing machine and an A+++ refrigerator and dryer. To keep you warm even in winter, we have installed infrared radiators.
The Casa is not just another apartment or holiday property. We love to spent our holidays here and we are happy when our guests are happy, too. You will find some reviews of our former guests below.

Reviews – What our guests say
I highly recommend this property for your stay in Lagos, especially if you want to be very central. It is in a great part of town. Very clean, and has everything you need. The deck off of the bedroom is fantastic. Enjoy!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The house is absolutely charming and in the best location in the historic district. In the center of everything but also very quiet at night. The owners have thought of everything you could need to effectively use the kitchen for meal preparation. Be aware that as the listing states, there are several flights of stairs. The dining area and living room is one level up from the kitchen but we did not find this to be a problem. This is the cleanest rental we have had the pleasure to stay in and thoroughly enjoyed our 20 days in February.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our trip to Lagos exceeded all our expectations. Uta and Marc have made Casa Amendoeira a home away from home. We were just minutes from everything in the city center, but if we decided to stay “at home,” we were just steps from a magnificent view via our rooftop terrace. If we had any questions or concerns, Ana addressed each one as quickly as possible. We loved the easy access to the beaches and hiking the trails along the cliffs to the lighthouse. The wonderful park just outside the old city wall was also a favorite place to walk or relax in the sun and picnic. We are already in the planning stages for a return trip in 2020. I can hardly wait!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great location close to the centre of historic Lagos and all local amenities.
This house proved to be the ideal location for our family to enjoy the historic town of Lagos and the surrounding area. The house had all things needed by our family, but the star attraction was the roof terrace and the amazing views that could be seen from here. Lagos had a lovely range of activities for the family including kayaks, surfing, beaches and shopping. There is also a lovely range of restaurants in the local area for all tastes. Tho2s house and Lagos proved to a great location for our family holiday with two teenage children.

Absolutely recommend a stay in the wonderful Casa. Great house in perfect location to explore Lagos! We loved it
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We loved this traditional house in the old town. Very spacious. Everything you could possibly want. Stairs were not a problem for us but bare them in mind. Loved the roof terrace with amazing views and made use of the bbq on quite a few evenings.
Being right in the old town was a bonus as previously we have stayed on the outskirts and relied on buses and don’t run very late. We loved being able to walk to action. Having said that, the house is tucked far enough away so as not to be troubled by revellers. Comfy bed, good hairdryer (very important for us ladies), good citrus juicer and very well equipped kitchen. Good communication with the owners. A lot of very useful information about the house and it’s little quirks. Thank you Uta & Marc. We had a superb stay.

Seven reasons for visiting the Algarve
It’s probably Europe’s best climate.
Mild winters with temperatures seldom drop below 5ºC along the coast, warm summers refreshed by the Atlantic breeze and the highest number of hours of sunshine in Europe. Hard to beat this. Especially the Algarve is an excellent choice of a place to read a book.
Ideal conditions for surfing
It’s the perfect place to learn or master the art of surfing.
If you are into surf, the wild uncrowded Atlantic waves, mild climate and the friendly community of surfers and surf camps should easily seduce you. Nazaré, Peniche, Ericeira and all the coast of Alentejo are amongst the hot spots of surfing in Portugal.

Visit the beach at sunset. It will be amongst the most beautiful memories you’ll have from your stay.
The coffee is crazy good.
The value-for-money relation for coffee in Portugal is the best in Europe. A good quality espresso (called Bika) will cost you no more than 1 EUR. Did I say the coffee is excellent?
Cobblestone streets are everywhere.
Calçada Portuguesa is the type of mosaic floors you see in most cities. They’re crazy expensive, but they look gorgeous. The patterns and designs in some of them are quite stunning and make a square or street really come alive – especially in Lagos! Walking in Portugal is literally walking on art!
It’s eye-catchy.
You’ll learn to appreciate the little details in Portugal. Clothes are hanging on the windows of colourful buildings with apartments, gorgeous sunsets in the sea, neighbourhoods with narrow streets, you name it! For photography lovers, it’s hard to stop pushing the shutter button. As a photographer I can seay, that holidays in Lagos will provide an unbeatable oportunity for a lot of beautiful pictures.
Pastéis de Nata – your new obsession.
A lot is said about pastéis de nata (custard tarts). If you leave Portugal without trying this wonder of the world of pastry, something is profoundly wrong with you. 🙂
You will find seven more reasons on the bottom of the Casinha Canal page, which is the other holiday home in Lagos.
